Because I Can

One Size Does Not Fit All #edcmooc

I started reading ‘One Size Does Not Fit All’ in December. I am still reading it and finding lots to reflect on and agree with. I will review it properly later. Technology delivers the opportunities for us to ‘follow our bliss’ in learning like never before. I found blogging and enquiry based learning in my classrooms to keep learning interesting. I learnt from my students, they learnt from each other and these future directions in learning excite me. The skills are different to traditional classroom learning and some students want to keep business as usual, so it’s not always as popular as you would expect, but I imagine that will change.

When teachers connect students to resources like Khan Academy, You Tube TED Education , to name just a couple of resources in the ever growing list, they can self pace and focus on what they want to. When we share tools to present the things they make, to audiences, it’s powerful learning in my experiences as teacher and student. There can be pressure to perform and stand out, or fears to be overcome.

Slide 4 &11 #6 are what I look forward to for humans.

THE END OF TEACHING by @agalorda from Alvaro González-Alorda

Defining Humanity by Steve Fuller was part of our reading for this week. I have listened to it more than once because he asks great questions and it stimulated my own. I love these shifts and different thinkers. I have been pinning to a board, Being Human for a while now, before I started the course, none of it is original, so I should say repinning, but here’s a link.

Thanks Kate, I love Seth Godin’s ‘Stop Stealing Dreams’ and Nikhil Goyal refers to him in his book ‘One Size Fits All’. Good to hear from you and I hope all is well in your world.
